La Izquierda Latinoamericana: Entre la Retórica y la Traición

Como hombre de izquierda, perseguido, torturado y exonerado político, debo decirlo con claridad: nos han traicionado.

Desaparición forzada como garantía de no repetición

En Chile y en gran parte de América Latina, los partidos que se autodenominan progresistas –como el Partido Socialista (PS), el Partido por la Democracia (PPD), el Partido Comunista (PC) y otros– llegaron al poder prometiendo justicia social, reparación y dignidad para las víctimas de las dictaduras. Pero la realidad fue otra: palabras grandilocuentes, promesas incumplidas y un abandono vergonzoso.

Las Palabras Mágicas Vacías

Conceptos como “democracia”, “estado de derecho”, “igualdad de género”, “pobreza”, “hambre”, “justicia” y “libertad de expresión” se repiten como mantras. Son herramientas de marketing político, usadas para legitimar gobiernos y perpetuar elites, no para transformar la vida de los ciudadanos.

Instituciones que No Cumplen

Incluso organismos como el Instituto Nacional de Derechos Humanos (INDH) y las asociaciones de exonerados, expresos políticos, torturados y familiares de desaparecidos han caído en la burocracia y la indiferencia.
Cuando uno llega a estas instituciones buscando apoyo, la respuesta es fría, mecánica, muchas veces irrespetuosa.

Se olvidaron que detrás de cada expediente hay una vida rota, una familia, un dolor que no prescribe.

Chile: Deuda Histórica Impaga

Después de la dictadura, se prometió reparación digna. La verdad es que las pensiones entregadas a las víctimas no alcanzan ni el 50% del salario mínimo, mientras exautoridades y burócratas se enriquecen con sueldos millonarios.
¿Ese es el concepto de justicia de la izquierda chilena?

Elecciones 2025: El Discurso Repetido

Hoy, en plena carrera hacia las elecciones presidenciales, seguimos escuchando las mismas promesas de siempre.
Se vuelve a usar la memoria de las víctimas como herramienta electoral, prometiendo reparación y justicia para ganar votos.
Pero sabemos lo que ocurre después: llega el olvido, la indiferencia y la traición.

El Poder por el Poder

Lo que se ha visto en muchos gobiernos progresistas de la región no es compromiso con la memoria histórica ni con la dignidad de las víctimas. Es un proyecto para perpetuarse en el poder, usando los derechos humanos como bandera electoral y olvidando su esencia: la defensa del pueblo y la igualdad real.

Conclusión

Hoy denuncio, sin miedo y sin doble discurso:
La izquierda que conocimos, que se decía humanista, se ha alejado de sus principios y ha convertido la memoria de las víctimas en moneda política.
Es hora de exigirle coherencia, transparencia y respeto.
Porque la justicia no se declama. Se cumple.

Latin American Left: Between Rhetoric and Betrayal

Forced disappearance as a guarantee of non-repetition

In Chile and across much of Latin America, parties that call themselves progressive – such as the Socialist Party (PS), the Party for Democracy (PPD), the Communist Party (PC) and others – came to power promising social justice, reparations, and dignity for the victims of past dictatorships. Yet reality has been quite different: grand speeches, broken promises, and shameful neglect.

Empty “Magic Words”

Concepts such as “democracy”, “rule of law”, “gender equality”, “poverty”, “hunger”, “justice” and “freedom of expression” are repeated like political mantras. But they have become tools of manipulation – words used to legitimize governments and perpetuate elites, not to bring real change to people's lives.

Institutions That Fail

Even institutions such as the National Institute for Human Rights (INDH) and associations of former political prisoners, exonerated workers, torture survivors, and families of the disappeared have fallen into bureaucracy and indifference.
When one seeks help from these organizations, the response is often cold, mechanical, and disrespectful.
They have forgotten that behind each case file lies a shattered life, a family, a pain that does not expire.

Chile’s Unpaid Historical Debt

After the dictatorship, Chile’s governments – mostly from the left – promised fair reparations. The truth is that the pensions provided to victims do not even reach 50% of the minimum wage, while former officials and bureaucrats continue to enrich themselves with massive salaries.
Is this the concept of justice the Chilean left stands for?

2025 Elections: The Same Old Rhetoric

Now, as Chile approaches its 2025 presidential elections, we hear the same empty promises once again.
Victims of the dictatorship are used as tools of political marketing – their pain transformed into votes.
But we know what follows: forgetfulness, indifference, and betrayal.

Power for Power’s Sake

What we have seen in many so-called progressive governments across the region is not a commitment to historical memory or to the dignity of victims. It is a project to remain in power, using human rights as an electoral banner while abandoning their true essence: the defense of the people and genuine equality.

Conclusion

Today I speak out, without fear and without double standards:
The left we once knew – the left that called itself humanist – has drifted away from its principles, turning the memory of victims into political currency.
It is time to demand coherence, transparency, and respect.
Because justice is not a slogan. Justice must be done.
